The Dupixent Pre-filled Pen is designed for self-administration at home, so it’s easy to incorporate into your routine. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
Preparation:
- Take the pen out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before using it so that it has time to come to room temperature.
- Gently wash your hands with soap and water.
- Draw a flat, even surface and everything that you will require for the injection.
Injection Site:
- The injection has to be made subcutaneously in the skin of the thigh or abdomen. Do not inject the shot into areas of bruised, red, or other skin condition areas.
- Choose another site of injection each time to reduce the risk of irritation.
Injecting
- Remove the pen from the protective case and consult the instructions on how to prime the pen.
- Pinch your skin lightly at the chosen injection site.
- Place the pen firmly against your skin and press the button to inject the medication.
- The pen will deliver the dose automatically. Remove the pen from your skin once used.
Post-Injection:
- Dispose of the pen properly in a sharps container after use.
- Do not reuse the pen.
- Wash your hands once more after disposal.
- Missed Dose: If you forget a dose, call your healthcare provider to determine what to do. Do not take two doses at once.
