Overview

Apri is a birth control pill designed orally to prevent pregnancy. This is a combined hormonal contraceptive pill, which contains the combination of estrogen (ethinyl estradiol) and progestin (desogestrel). This results in the following ways preventing pregnancy

Prevents ovulation: It prevents the ovaries from releasing an egg, so there is no egg to be fertilized.

Thickens cervical mucus: It makes the mucus in the cervix thicker, which makes it hard for sperm to reach the egg.

Changes the uterine lining: It changes the lining of the uterus such that even if fertilization occurs, the fertilized egg cannot implant.
