Overview

Arakoda is a medication that is prescribed for the prevention of malaria in people traveling to areas where the disease is endemic. It contains the active ingredient tafenoquine, which belongs to the class of drugs called antimalarial agents. Malaria is a serious and potentially life-threatening disease caused by Plasmodium parasites, transmitted through the bites of infected mosquitoes. Arakoda is used to prevent malaria due to Plasmodium falciparum, which is the most common and dangerous form of malaria.

Arakoda is a new drug and is usually prescribed as part of a travel health kit for travelers going to areas with high malaria transmission. It should be noted that Arakoda does not treat an ongoing malaria infection; it is only used as a prophylactic agent.
