Overview

Aromasin is a medication that is most commonly prescribed to treat breast cancer in women who have undergone menopause and who harbor hormone receptors within the breast cancer.

The constituent component of Aromasin is exemestane, which is also an aromatase inhibitor and a drug of the third generation that works within the body by lowering the amounts of estrogen in circulation. Estrogen is a steroid hormone that facilitates the development of some breast cancers, particularly those that are positive for estrogen receptors (ER-positive).
