Overview

Ascomp and Codeine are two medications that are frequently prescribed for pain and pain-related conditions. Codeine is classified as an opioid, and therefore it is most commonly given in conjunction with potent pain relievers such as acetaminophen or aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for the benefits of these medications. Ascomp is a fixed-dose combination drug containing acetaminophen, aspirin, and codeine used for treatment of moderate to severe pain.

Ascomp and Codeine medications can be effective where other pain treatment modalities fail, yet these drugs should be utilized with restraint especially considering the potential discomforts as well as the risk factors associated with their use.
