Overview

Avalide is a combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. The chemical class that Irbesartan belongs to is angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), and Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to the thiazide diuretics.

Both work together to achieve a decrease in blood pressure and the conditions associated with diabetes, such as high blood pressure and kidney disorders. Avalide is generally prescribed to patients with hypertension or to the diabetic patient for prevention of kidney damage.
