Overview

Biktarvy is a combination medication. It is used for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and children weighing at least 25 kg. It consists of three active ingredients: bictegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir alafenamide. These three active ingredients provide a powerful regimen for managing HIV. Biktarvy belongs to a class of medications known as antiretrovirals. These antiretrovirals function by suppressing the replication of the HIV virus, which improves the immune system function and reduces the risk of HIV-related complications.

The combination of these three drugs helps block HIV’s ability to replicate at different stages of its lifecycle. This approach offers a highly effective and convenient single-pill treatment, which will make it easier for the patient to manage his or her condition.
