Overview

Cylate is a medication used in the form of eye drops that contains tropicamide, which is a type of muscle relaxant that affects the eye muscles. It is commonly used in eye examinations and procedures to dilate the pupils and allow doctors to examine the retina and other parts of the eye more effectively. By dilating the pupils, Cylate helps to temporarily block the response of the eye’s focusing muscle, making it easier to see the back of the eye during an eye exam.

Cylate is typically used by ophthalmologists or optometrists during routine eye exams, particularly when checking for conditions such as glaucoma, retinal disease, or diabetic eye problems. It works for a short period of time, and once the eye returns to its normal state, the effects wear off.
