Overview

Descovy Blister Pack is a combination medication designed to treat and prevent HIV-1 infection. It contains emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide—two potent antiretroviral agents that work together to inhibit the replication of the HIV virus. These two drugs belong to a class known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). By blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme, Descovy prevents the virus from converting its RNA into DNA, which is essential for its replication.

Descovy is not only used to treat HIV in individuals already diagnosed with the virus but is also used as Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), where it helps to prevent HIV infection in people at high risk of exposure. The Blister Pack packaging provides a convenient way for users to take their daily dose, ensuring they receive the medication as prescribed.
