Overview

Dojolvi is a prescription medication that contains triheptanoin, a type of fat (medium-chain triglyceride) that can be easily converted into energy. It is specifically used to manage the symptoms of long-chain fatty acid oxidation disorders (LC-FAOD). These disorders impair the body’s ability to break down long-chain fatty acids for energy, leading to problems with energy production, particularly during fasting or periods of stress.

By providing an alternative fuel source, Dojolvi helps prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), supports muscle function, and improves overall energy levels in patients with LC-FAOD. This medication is often prescribed to individuals who have been diagnosed with LC-FAOD, which includes conditions like medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MCAD) and other fatty acid oxidation disorders.

Dojolvi is typically used alongside other treatments and a controlled diet to ensure proper energy balance and metabolic function in affected individuals. It is available in liquid form for easy administration, especially in pediatric patients.
