Overview

Exforge HCT is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. It is a triple-combination medicine that contains three active ingredients: amlodipine, valsartan, and hydrochlorothiazide (HCT). Each of these components helps lower blood pressure in different ways, making the medication more effective for patients who do not get enough benefit from using just one or two blood pressure medicines.

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents the narrowing of blood vessels, and hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic (water pill) that helps the body get rid of excess salt and water. This triple-action approach helps lower blood pressure more effectively and reduces the risk of complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.

Exforge HCT is taken once daily and is typically prescribed when blood pressure is not well controlled with dual therapy.
