Overview

A hormonal birth control method used to prevent conception in women or
those assigned female at birth (AFAB) is the vaginal ring, sometimes
known as a birth control ring. You wear this tiny, flexible ring inside your
vagina. Through the lining of your vagina, the ring delivers progestin and
estrogen into your body Together, these two hormones prevent pregnancy
by:
preventing the release of eggs from your ovaries.
altering the mucus in your cervical cavity to stop sperm from getting to an
egg.
To accommodate for bleeding, a vaginal ring is worn for three weeks and
then taken off for one week. It’s a very effective method of birth control
when used as directed.
